Yarr, it be 2008 now mateys! Another year to loot, pillage and game!
So yeah, happy new year everyone! I hope you all got to enjoy your final moments in 2007 last night, I know I did. As always, moving into yet another new year tends to make one reflect on the year past. Last year marked the start of The Game Drone on it’s new domain, along with an all new layout and new unique entries. The fresh start went together with a new posting methodology, which brought forth popular entries like 17 Tips for Beginning EVE Players. Unfortunately the posting rhythm kinda got warped after the first few weeks, so content has been pretty meager up until December.
In this new year The Game Drone will of course move forward. I’ll improve the posting rhythm by introducing more entries of the smaller variant and getting decent schedules in for recurring items like Screenshots of the Month. Meanwhile there are a couple of other ‘projects’ I’m working on, which you’ll probably start noticing somewhere in the coming months. Hopefully game developers will also prove generous and provide us with a wealth of quality games and news to talk about!
Anyway, have fun gaming for now. If you press the read the rest link you’ll find this month’s Screenshot of the Week. I hope you’ll like it.

This year was one of many an amazing title and clearly showed that PC gaming is still where it’s at. In fact, there have been so many great games that many a PC gamer will likely still be buying some of these titles one year from now - and playing through them all seems like a task that will take centuries. We’ve had sequels in franchises long thought lost: BioShock, Command & Conquer 3, Sam & Max Season 1, Supreme Commander. Excellent new games: Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, The Witcher, World in Conflict. And just all around great games/sequels/expasion packs.
In light of all these impressive games, I’ve done my best to include the most popular and impressive amongst them in a new poll… where you get to vote for your favorite game of 2007! If you’re still missing a game, leave a comment, or contact me, and I’ll add it to the list. Now go ahead and vote for your favorite. I’ll leave it up for a couple of weeks and share the results with you afterwards!
As for the previous, somewhat similar, poll which asked what game you’d be playing on a winter’s day. Let’s just Unreal Tournament 3 raked in a landslide victory with 5 out of 15 votes, which is perhaps not particularly surprising considering almost 50% of the content on this blog has been UT related as of late. The Witcher came in second with 3 votes, leaving Call of Duty 4 tailing that with 2 votes. Lastly BioShock, Crysis and The Orange Box all received 1 vote, rounding out the list.

Games can be more than just a fun timesink; at times they are a thing of true beauty. This biweekly feature is dedicated purely to demonstrating the beauty of modern day gaming. So two times per month another Screenshot Spotlight will appear featuring some sort of beautiful, or otherwise interesting, screenshot I recently acquired.
However, rather than simply posting some pretty picture and leaving it at that, I’ll include a bit of information about the game it was taken in - and the circumstances of the screenshot. Think of it as an optional background story for you to read. If you don’t care for any of that you can of course simply admire the pretty pictures and be done with it!

After last month’s spree of awesome releases, most of you probably don’t quite need a list of even more awesome games headed your way. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what this is… so when you’re done with Crysis, Gears of War, The Witcher or Unreal Tournament 3 - scratch that, no one is going to be finished with that one for the next couple of years - there’s even more for you to spend your money on and enjoy! Yikes, there goes my money.
So yeah, what follows is a list of most of the PC games scheduled to hit stores this December or next year. All release dates are European (Dutch), so they may not coincide with the release dates for other territories. I might sneak in a few up dates slightly after posting, but generally these release dates are only valid as of the day they are posted and are likely subject to change from that moment. Fortunately I update the whole lot every month with up-to-date release dates and newly announced games. Some of your anticipated games might be left out due to a lack of (semi-)reliable release data, but you can always sneak in a mail and I’ll try to add your game next month! Enjoy!

Every month we’re treated to a wealth of new games to play, but which ones are worth buying? That’s what I’ll try to find out, in the monthly recurring series of Most Impressive PC Games. So in the beginning of every month you can come visit this website, for a quick rundown of the latest and greatest titles, including links to game demos so you can give them a try yourself!
This time I’ll be covering the month of November, 2007 - which means this will be a particularly length edition. As you all probably know, November was the month for many long-awaited releases and an armada of absolutely awesome games. Essentially we’ve had more than a years’ worth of awesome titles released in a single month! Of course this also results in some hefty gaming expenses, and some of you might not be able to buy every game they want - you might want to read on and see which ones you really should get.
