So I blog about PC games, but I bet you’re wondering what it is that I actually play. What do I do in between blog posts? That question will be answered every other week in the “A Gamers’ Log” feature. Think of it as a quick overview of the games I played and perhaps a small prelude to some of the entries to come.
Of course there’s plenty of room to discuss your own gaming habits for the past few weeks as well. So if you’d like to respond to what I’ve written, or add in your own list of cool (or horrid) games you’ve played recently, then by all means: do so!

It’s now been two weeks since I started my poll on Your Favorite Shooting Experience so it’s about time to wrap things up and start a new poll! As usual this new poll will last for two weeks, after which another new poll will await your votes. The question this time is: “Which game are you most looking forward to?” and includes a lot of upcoming games scheduled to release later this year. Choose whichever game gets you pumped up most - and we’ll see which ones end up being the most popular in two weeks time!
As for the results for the former poll, on your favorite shooting experience. They are as follows: Third Person Shooter, Stealth Shooter and I Don’t Like Shooters lost out with 0 votes each. Next up was the Ego Shooter - Quake/Unreal style - with 1 vote, followed by the Tactical Shooter with 2. Teambased Shooters are more popular and managed to rake in 3 votes, but the eventual winner was the Singleplayer FPS with a whopping 6 votes (or 50%). Perhaps not quite surprising after the release of BioShock, but it still came a bit unexpected. I had anticipated to see teambased shooters pull out a clear victory over the others, looks like I was wrong
Well, see you in two weeks for the results of the current poll.
And don’t forget to vote!

I realize that it’s only been five days since the first poll on this new domain started, but according to the new schedule it’s already time for a new poll! Fortunately this new poll will last a bit longer, for the duration of two weeks to be precise. So you shouldn’t have any problems getting your vote in before the new poll ends. As for the results of the old poll, read on for the full story!
As with - almost - any new site design, the first poll question was: ‘How do you like the new design?’. In these past five days it’s received seven votes, which is decent enough for a new domain I would say. Out of these seven people, one person did not like the new blog. Two others thought it was nice, and the remaining four people loved it. Overall a very good response, which I hope is now enhanced by the newly implemented logo (designed by my friend Jos). I’m relieved to see that there weren’t droves of people voting me back to Blogger, because that would’ve made the investment kind of futile.
And of course there is the new poll, regarding the kinds of shooters you prefer. This should be fairly easy to answer for most of you, I know my personal preference lies with ego shooters (such as Quake and Unreal Tournament) and teambased shooters (such as Tribes and Return to Castle Wolfenstein). What’s your preference? Maybe you like singleplayer shooters like BioShock and Half Life 2, or third person shooters such as Outcast and Chronicles of Riddick? Or perhaps you prefer a good Tactical (Ghost Recon) or Stealth (Thief, Splinter Cell) shooter. Whatever your favorite shooting experience is like, you’d best let me know - and vote in that poll on the right!
See you in two weeks for the results… and a new poll!

Several weeks prior to the launch of this blog I had put a new poll question up on the old site, which was still running until now. As you can see, on the right, there is already a new poll running on this blog, which will continue on to Monday when I’ll be asking a different question. Which still leaves me with the results of the previous poll. You guessed it: I’ll be sharing those tonight.
The poll question was as follows: ‘Which is your favorite genre?’. With 17 different possible answers, this poll featured an option for everyone. Unfortunately only 12 people voted, so about 50% of the genres had 0 votes. Better yet, first place is shared by First Person Shooters and Role Playing Games, both raking in three votes. As for second place: that’s shared between Action, Adventure, Massively Multiplayer Online, Real Time Strategy, Space Sim & Turn Based Strategy - with one vote each. That’s a pretty well rounded result, although surprisingly low in the strategy department, I had expected to see some higher numbers there.
My own favorite genre would probably have to be First Person Shooter, if only because most of the games I play seem to fall into that or the Massively Multiplayer Online category. However, given the chance I would prefer a space-based game of any genre. Too bad that those tend to be few and far between and most of the space games that do come out tend to be mediocre, at best.
Anyway, for now you can enjoy the new poll regarding the new blog. Look back next Monday for the results of the current poll, as well as another new poll question!

Several weeks ago my new gaming system finally arrived and with that I thought the time was right to move The Game Drone to the next level: it’s own domain… and here it finally is! That’s right, this will be the new Game Drone blog, replacing that old Blogger blog. I hope you like it! It’s far from just a visual change, but you’ve probably already noticed that… so go on and vote in the poll to the right to share your opinion about the new blog! You can also comment of course.
If you’re new to The Game Drone then all that stuff above probably doesn’t make any sense to you and what you’re really looking for is a proper introduction to the blog. Fortunately, I have created exactly that… and you can read it here, on the About page. There’s also a bunch of other pages up there containing further information about the blog and myself.
Regular visitors are bound to wonder where the old posts have gone. The sad truth is that importing the Blogger blog just didn’t work, so the only way you can read them is by visiting the old blog. That said, it’s not really such a bad thing, because this way it really signals a new beginning for The Game Drone. Of course I’ll be rewriting and republishing some of the better entries of the old blog, but otherwise this is a true fresh start!
I’ve spent the past few days getting everything up and running, but some things might still not be working as intended, so bare with me. For now I hope you enjoy the new look and check back often for new content, which will be appearing shortly. You can also choose to subscribe using the various services in the menu.
Anyway, I’ll be back to blogging then!
