This year was one of many an amazing title and clearly showed that PC gaming is still where it’s at. In fact, there have been so many great games that many a PC gamer will likely still be buying some of these titles one year from now - and playing through them all seems like a task that will take centuries. We’ve had sequels in franchises long thought lost: BioShock, Command & Conquer 3, Sam & Max Season 1, Supreme Commander. Excellent new games: Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, The Witcher, World in Conflict. And just all around great games/sequels/expasion packs.
In light of all these impressive games, I’ve done my best to include the most popular and impressive amongst them in a new poll… where you get to vote for your favorite game of 2007! If you’re still missing a game, leave a comment, or contact me, and I’ll add it to the list. Now go ahead and vote for your favorite. I’ll leave it up for a couple of weeks and share the results with you afterwards!
As for the previous, somewhat similar, poll which asked what game you’d be playing on a winter’s day. Let’s just Unreal Tournament 3 raked in a landslide victory with 5 out of 15 votes, which is perhaps not particularly surprising considering almost 50% of the content on this blog has been UT related as of late. The Witcher came in second with 3 votes, leaving Call of Duty 4 tailing that with 2 votes. Lastly BioShock, Crysis and The Orange Box all received 1 vote, rounding out the list.

Yes, that’s right - The Game Drone now has an easy-to-navigate archive for you to browse through! It shows every entry made in the history of gamedrone.net in chronological order, and allows you to sort by month for a better overview. As a little bonus it also displays the comment count for every entry. All of this thanks to katesgasis’ KGArchives plugin.
However, as you may have noticed, this is not the full extent of our recent little site update. A bunch of plugins have been disabled and removed, ensuring a slightly more easily loaded blog. The sidebar has also been drastically retooled, now featuring a random selection of three articles from the Game Drone archives at all times. Meanwhile Recent Posts and Archives links have been removed in favor of the new Archives page which you can access up top. Recent Comments has also been shortened to only display 3 hits instead of 5, which all combined should lead to a significantly sleeker website that won’t require as much fiddling around with for you to reach the content you want.
I’m still looking into a few further optimizations, but for now this will do. I hope you like the changes! Check back soon for more new content!

With the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo poll running in at 10 votes now, it’s kind of had it’s run. As such I’ve launched a new poll question for you to answer today, with a variety of cool options that will undoubtedly leave you with some heartaches as you try to decide your pick! That’s right: it’s time to choose your favorite recent game to play on a cold winters’ day! Fans of shooters in particular will have a tough choice, in between games like BioShock, The Orange Box, Crysis, Unreal Tournament 3 and Call of Duty 4. But there’s plenty for other gamers too, ranging from underdog The Witcher to the behemoth of huge dynamic battles: Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Yikes!
Anyway, on to the Unreal Tournament 3 poll results! Ten people replied with their opinions of the UT3 demo and it looks like everyone liked it. One person thought it was decent, whereas another thought it was Godlike. Next up were three people who thought it was Great and the winner is ‘Fun’ with 5 votes. Clearly it looks as though the Unreal Tournament 3 beta demo was favorably received by everyone and hopefully the same will happen for the full version, which will appear in stores later this week. Of course I’ve got it on preorder and will post up my first impressions… well, the moment I have them!
Don’t forget to vote in the poll to the right - and I’ll see you in two weeks for the results, as well as the next poll!

It’s been over a month since the last Gamers’ Log, which is slightly more than I intended. Fortunately this also means I have plenty of games to talk about this time, so you can enjoy an exceptionally varied entry! I’ll also try to get the next Gamers’ Log in on the usual, roughly biweekly, schedule.
So I blog about PC games, but I bet you’re wondering what it is that I actually play. What do I do in between blog posts? That question will be answered every other week in the “A Gamers’ Log” feature. Think of it as a quick overview of the games I played and perhaps a small prelude to some of the entries to come.
Of course there’s plenty of room to discuss your own gaming habits for the past few weeks as well. So if you’d like to respond to what I’ve written, or add in your own list of cool (or horrid) games you’ve played recently, then by all means: do so! Note that in order to keep this entry somewhat manageable, I’ll limit things to just the main games I’ve played this past month.

It’s been way too long since I lasted updated the poll, but on the bright side this means we have a healthy 12 votes to work with! As you might recall the question for the past weeks has been ‘Which game are you most looking forward to?’. Unfortunately by now most of these games have already been released, and the remainder is scheduled to release in a matter of weeks. Anyhow, Company of Heroes: Opposing Force came in last place with no votes whatsoever. Half Life 2: Episode 2, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer and The Witcher tied for third place with 1 vote. Crysis, Hellgate: London and Unreal Tournament 3 tied for second place with 2 votes - and Call of Duty 4 stole the crown with 3 votes. Good for CoD4, but I’m still not buying it… I definitely did not like that demo. As for the two Hellgate: London fans, I’m certain they’re wishing they voted for something else by now.
Anyway, on to the new poll of the next two weeks! A very simple question focusing on fellow Unreal Tournament fans: ‘What do you think of the Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo?’. There’s a wealth of options for you to choose from… and as for my opinion - well, you already know that. Select whichever option comes to mind as the most suitable - and we’ll talk more in two weeks when the results are in! Also please don’t forget it’s a beta demo, so try to take that into account when rating… bugs and performance issues or lack of content aren’t the things you should be scoring. Everyone always says gameplay > all, so prove it!
Now vote :>
Pretty please?
