I’m not exactly a fan of Hellgate: London as you might know… and recently I bumped into a pretty interesting article which further solidifies that opinion. Hellgate: London was created by Flagship Studios, which mostly consists of former Blizzard employees. So what better than to compare it to another ‘recent’ role-playing game created by another upstart studio consisting of mostly former Blizzard employees? Genius isn’t it? I thought so!
And so did Deimos of ahkong.net! He’s written up a comparison between Hellgate: London and Guild Wars as it was when it was released. An extensive comparison on ten fronts ensues…. and Guild Wars comes out with a resounding 10-0 lead even without it’s many content updates, patches and expansion packs. Most remarkably: it doesn’t even come across as a resoundingly biased comparison. Then again… let’s face facts here: Hellgate London is widely known to suck, whereas Guild Wars is one of the most popular games to date. Perhaps not quite such a surprising outcome then
Definitely worth a read - go check it out!
Update: Alright - the site seems to be accessible again, enjoy!

That’s right - we’ve got a wealth of patches for good games coming out nowadays. Where last week CCP launched EVE Onlines’ Trinity expansion pack/patch… just this morning Epic Games also had a very welcome surprise waiting for us. The first official Unreal Tournament 3 patch is finally here! The first BioShock patch and content update was also released for download roughly a week ago. Furthermore the second extensive patch for CDProjekts‘ The Witcher is only days away! Woa! Now that’s some patching goodness!
Anyway, fellow EVE Online players should already have their patch by now. If you care to meet up in-game, add Droniac Massacuris, my new Trinity character. Yes, I finally reactivated my account! As for fellow UT3 fans… you can head over here on the official forums for the full lowdown on patch fixes and download links! You’ll want this, it fixes and adds so much and it even fixes a bunch of bugs people were having that aren’t on the bugfix list (e.g.: crashes, graphic glitches, connection issues, etc.)! It’s 230MB though, so be prepared for a fairly hefty download.
In between this patch and the recent release of CustomUT, as well as various similar projects and many map remake projects underway… it looks like the Unreal Tournament 3 community is really starting to grow exponentially. Now get on those servers, which you can now add to favorites, and bump up those player counts! I’ll be on tonight as well :)

Games can be more than just a fun timesink; at times they are a thing of true beauty. This biweekly feature is dedicated purely to demonstrating the beauty of modern day gaming. So two times per month another Screenshot Spotlight will appear featuring some sort of beautiful, or otherwise interesting, screenshot I recently acquired.
However, rather than simply posting some pretty picture and leaving it at that, I’ll include a bit of information about the game it was taken in - and the circumstances of the screenshot. Think of it as an optional background story for you to read. If you don’t care for any of that you can of course simply admire the pretty pictures and be done with it!

After last month’s spree of awesome releases, most of you probably don’t quite need a list of even more awesome games headed your way. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what this is… so when you’re done with Crysis, Gears of War, The Witcher or Unreal Tournament 3 - scratch that, no one is going to be finished with that one for the next couple of years - there’s even more for you to spend your money on and enjoy! Yikes, there goes my money.
So yeah, what follows is a list of most of the PC games scheduled to hit stores this December or next year. All release dates are European (Dutch), so they may not coincide with the release dates for other territories. I might sneak in a few up dates slightly after posting, but generally these release dates are only valid as of the day they are posted and are likely subject to change from that moment. Fortunately I update the whole lot every month with up-to-date release dates and newly announced games. Some of your anticipated games might be left out due to a lack of (semi-)reliable release data, but you can always sneak in a mail and I’ll try to add your game next month! Enjoy!

Yes, that’s right - The Game Drone now has an easy-to-navigate archive for you to browse through! It shows every entry made in the history of gamedrone.net in chronological order, and allows you to sort by month for a better overview. As a little bonus it also displays the comment count for every entry. All of this thanks to katesgasis’ KGArchives plugin.
However, as you may have noticed, this is not the full extent of our recent little site update. A bunch of plugins have been disabled and removed, ensuring a slightly more easily loaded blog. The sidebar has also been drastically retooled, now featuring a random selection of three articles from the Game Drone archives at all times. Meanwhile Recent Posts and Archives links have been removed in favor of the new Archives page which you can access up top. Recent Comments has also been shortened to only display 3 hits instead of 5, which all combined should lead to a significantly sleeker website that won’t require as much fiddling around with for you to reach the content you want.
I’m still looking into a few further optimizations, but for now this will do. I hope you like the changes! Check back soon for more new content!
