As a present for my twentieth birthday I received a Logitech G15 Keyboard yesterday. While I’ve heard some people complain about this keyboard, thus far it’s proven to be great! I like the blue backlight, which means I can see my keys at all times… and contrary to my previous keyboard the WASD keys have yet to fade, which is another big plus. Anyway, it’s pretty cool and all - although it doesn’t come with a manual for some reason -
and I’m sure I’ll talk some more about it once I’ve gotten some time quality time in with it’s LCD display and Macro Keys.
Thus far I’ve simply been too addicted to Unreal Tournament 3’s beta demo to really try any of the G15 features. At least the keyboard functions flawlessly under the stressful conditions of a hardcore UT3 DeathMatch game. The game mode switch is absolutely awesome, because it means no more accidental switches to Windows when playing a game and trying to hit that Ctrl or Alt button. That game - UT 3 - is awesome by the way… and you’ll definitely want to give it a try if you haven’t already. It’s going to be the best shooter, and possibly best game, of 2007 for sure.
Today I also headed out and purchased Half Life 2: The Orange Box, which is a definite must-have this winter. There’s simply no reason to pass up on a package containing five games for the price of one! I’ve yet to actually play any of the games (although I did play Half Life 2 previously), but I’ve heard a lot of good things about Portal and Team Fortress 2… and Half Life 2: Episode 2 seems to be doing well in the reviews as well. Well then… I’ll be off to finish up Episode one and two, then I’ll report back with my impressions.
Have a nice weekend!

The Unreal Tournament 3 Beta Demo was released on Friday last week. You might have noticed a peculiar lack of posts, even recurring ones, during this period. Truth be told, it was the demo keeping me from posting. Yes, it’s that good… now go preorder.
Ok.. ok.. let’s go in-depth a little first shall we? Since I’m a longtime fan and veteran of the UT series, I’ve got so much to say about this that we’ll be splitting it into three or four entries. This first one will cover Duel, DeathMatch and Team DeathMatch as the competitive players, like myself, will see and experience it. In the next entry I’ll give some thoughts on Vehicle CTF and the last one will be about anything I missed, with maybe an entry on tweaking thrown in afterwards.

That’s right, the Unreal Tournament 3 demo is slated to be released within the next two weeks (likely even this week) according to Mark Rein! They seem determined to get rid of the old two weeks jynx - the UT2003 demo constantly being announced for ‘in 2 weeks’ and eventually releasing nearly 3 months after the first announcement - and hopefully they’ll pull it off. Because, you see: earlier Epic claimed the demo would be released roughly a month prior to release. Which means that if the demo releases this week - UT3 follows next month!
Anyway, so we’ll be getting a beta demo featuring some basic bot play and online play. There has been no mention of the contents, but I’d be expecting at least some DeathMatch maps, one Warfare map and one Vehicle Capture the Flag map. That’s always been pretty much the standard layout for UT demos. It should be good fun and a lot of people I know are looking forward to it. So I’ll definitely be seeing you in-game when this demo releases!=
But wait, that’s not the end of this post. You see, a short while ago Epic also revealed the - incredibly low - system specs for UT3. Just about anyone should be set to play this game smoothly when it releases, because minimum specs - 2GHz, 512 MB RAM, Radeon 9600 Pro, bla bla - are for PCs well over 5 years old! So, if you want to know whether you can join in the fun this weekend - or the next - when the UT3 demo releases, go test your system here. Then rejoice as your system is bound to be plentiful for at least low detail - and look me up later on Xfire for some public UT3 demo fun!
Update 10 oct: Some of the contents of the demo have been revealed by visitors to Epic’s recent press event. Apparently it will include the vehicle DeathMatch map Heatray, which includes a regularly spawning Darkwalker as the main focus of the map. It will also include a straight DeathMatch map known as DM-ShrangriLa, which is the asian-themed map shown in early gameplay footage. Lastly a Vehicle Capture the Flag map featuring solely Axon (human) vehicles is included, which is apparently rather large and intended to be a decent indication of what servers and clients will need to run proper Warfare games. No, there’s not going to be a Warfare map in this demo, but there will likely be a second demo after release which will include one. Straight CTF also seems to have been left out.

Every month we’re treated to a wealth of new games to play, but which ones are worth buying? That’s what I’ll try to find out, in the monthly recurring series of Most Impressive PC Games. So in the beginning of every month you can come visit this website, for a quick rundown of the latest and greatest titles, including links to official websites and game demos!
This time I’ll be covering the month of September, 2007 - a genuine beauty of a month for PC gamers. Where August kicked it off with the amazing BioShock and pretty damn good Guild Wars: Eye of the North releases, September looks to be the month to really kickstart a wealth of quality releases to finish the year in a loud bang of PC gaming bliss. We’ve got some great times ahead of ourselves, but for now - let’s look at what we already have, shall we?

The monthly release date overview has returned yet again! This is a completely up to date list of confirmed and estimated release dates for upcoming PC games, as of the 6th of October, 2007. Keep in mind that these dates can be, and often are, subject to change. Additionally these are European - Dutch to be precise - release dates so there might be several days or weeks difference with other regions.
A quick glance at this list aught to be enough to convince anyone that PC gaming is far from dead. In fact, it wouldn’t be hard to argue that there’s never been a better time to be a PC gamer! We’re now finally entering the months of long-awaited releases, and with World in Conflict now continuing the recent steady release of instant classics (from BioShock) - PC gaming is starting to look better and better! Now grab a beer, sit back and drool at the games coming your way - soon.
